Appreciation post: Family is everything!

Picture from long ago...

For those who are very close to me, it is no news that my dearest dad was ill for a while. It was the scariest time of my life. We moved from one hospital to the other. The doctors kept treating him for Malaria and Typhoid. He began to lose weight, he wasn't sleeping, he wasn't eating well, he was constantly losing energy, and most of all, he was becoming very AFRAID.

My dad used to be the very energetic man, the life of the party, the powerful VOICE that never needed a microphone no matter the magnitude of the crowd, the one person that had "everything' under control but all of a sudden, that person was nowhere to be found. What happened? Let's see...

7 months later...

It has been 7 months since I relocated to the much-dreaded city! Already? Na wa o. Reality check: I am still in Ibadan...lol. How have I been coping? I'll tell you how. I can't believe it's been over 2 months since I last wrote to you guys, my wonderful readers. First, how much do you like my hair? (Look out for the picture at the bottom of the page). My mum says I'm the new DJ Cuppy in the family (she's got nothing on me tho 🤣). How about my brows? I know you love them too. Anyways, let's catch up...

Apprenticeship in Nigeria: My Experience

Are you currently undergoing training or apprenticeship in a firm or local "workshop" in Nigeria? If you are, what has your experience been? Mine was "interesting" and I can't wait to tell you about it. It was a combination of the good, the bad, and the ugly. I had always been preoccupied with one white-collar job or the other. How did I find myself in a tailoring shop? Let's see! I see you like gist like me. Just make sure that you share yours in the comments section and the most interesting story will win airtime from me or a free CV rewrite, your choice!

Persistence...

I'm not a preacher of love, I'm a fight, I'm a war but I am definitely not Indabosky Bahose because I don't know what that means. If you think that I'm gonna come here and preach about persistence, hard work, and all that then you're absolutely RIGHT!!!!

Resume Building Masterclass Postponed- The Issues

Hello everyone, it's been a while. As most of you know, I've really been so busy with my CV writing and training. I organized a WhatsApp class sometime in April and was exhausting but very fulfilling. By popular demand, I had to organize another one in the month of May but now it has been postponed. WHY??!!

Corona Virus......shit's getting real!

Hey guys! Welcome to my blog. I took a well deserved break. Corona virus is in the air so we're all hibernating at home. Social media has a way of watering down the seriousness of scary situations and at the same blowing the panic out of proportion. It is important that we take precautionary measures and at the same time avoid panicking.

The Marriage Advisors

Yes! I call them "advisors" because they seem to have taken an official position. The Merriam Webster Dictionary says and I quote " Advisor tends to be used for people having an official position—for example, an advisor to the president". But just because I am nice, I'll call them advisers. Let's get to the gist of the day.

The struggle to leave home(Lagos)

Mom and I

It was a struggle to leave home. Few hours to our departure, mom became moody. For anyone who knows my mom, you can tell that she is a hard geh, no-nonsense babe. She was just staring at me like she was not going to see me again...

Life in Ibadan with no Job

So many of my friends are aware that I resigned from my job in Lagos. After wedding plans and all, a sister was left high and dry. I had already started applying for jobs in Ibadan before I resigned but as we all know, there are fewer job opportunities here. My lovely ex-colleagues and friends occasionally send me job ads; Ifunanya, Aunty Funmi, Dapo and Chidinma Oraemesi if you're reading this, I LOVE YOU GUYS.

Now let's talk about the sitting at home everyday. At first it was fun; wake up in the morning, prepare breakfast, husband goes to work, i'll sit in front of the TV, watch funny programs and laugh my heart out and even make videos to post on my Whatsapp Status...some of you can testify.

(By the way guys I sell perfumes, long-lasting fragrances. Please check out my page on instagram: @chims_perfumery)

Perfumes ranging from 3ml to 30ml

I was enjoying the sitting at home at first because my last job was very stressful and tasking so I kept telling myself that i needed the rest until.....I BECAME BORED. I started to google skills that I could learn from home that will not necessary require spending money. I learned Resume Building, although I did not think that many people will require my services. To my surprise when I advertised my newly acquired skill, a lot of people patronized me. Of course I did some pro Bono. My perfume business was still bringing in money in trickles.....lol.
My CV Services Poster

How am I coping with the yoruba speaking here? Contrary to popular opinion, I DO UNDERSTAND a bit of yoruba.....but I DO NOT LIKE the fact that everyone here just tries to shove it down my throat. So i decided to be greeting them EKAARO morning, afternoon and night. Don't mind me....

I'm still applying for jobs. I even got invited for an interview that I was told to come wearing a touch of Green...LWKMD...na Usher job I wan do? Nwa Mazi has suffered sha.
My Perfume Business Logo

Some other job invites came, some of which I will gist you about in subsequent posts. Next time i'll gist you on how I saw nwiiiiii because of asoebi tins.

Please and please encourage me with your likes, shares and comments....feedback will be appreciated; should I stop blabbing and face my perfume and CV business? Lol...

Till we meet again.... your favorite melanin gurrrrrl!!

Relocation after my Wedding

So I had always been scared of moving to Ibadan. I mean I attended Lead City University Ibadan but I always saw the city as a not-so-bubbly place.

I remember back then in school when people would say "what if you get married and your husband lives in Ibadan, what will you do?" I'd shout a resounding "Never!" My people, NEVER SAY NEVER. I'm here now and i'll be taking you through my journey in the town I vowed never to return to. Please look out for my posts and please comments and questions are allowed... Your favorite melanin geh...
