Persistence...

I'm not a preacher of love, I'm a fight, I'm a war but I am definitely not Indabosky Bahose because I don't know what that means. If you think that I'm gonna come here and preach about persistence, hard work, and all that then you're absolutely RIGHT!!!! Ok, there's no news to be broken. For those who have been following my blog, I have been complaining about how I came to Ibadan and there has been no job. I am happy to announce to you that the narrative has changed. Let's see how.

So I talked about taking courses here and there; make no mistakes, I was not sure that Resume Writing was what I wanted to do. Truth be told, I was just whiling away the time and doing CV rewrites for free. Before now, I used to enjoy rewriting my own CV, playing with different formats, making changes when I learned something new, etc and then I thought about it: Why do not it professionally?

I am grateful to my friends and family who took trusted me as a rookie Resumé Writer to work on their CVs. Honestly, I didn't know it would escalate this fast; from increased views and interactions on LinkedIn to several emails requesting for my services. Like!!!!!!!!!! Who I be???! Warri!!!! Ok, no......not Warri.....I mean Arochukwu!!!! Aro Okigbo!!! ( if you know, you know).

I also came up with the Resumé Building Masterclass and I have conducted 2 training sessions since its inception and I cannot help but say that I am partially fulfilled. After all the stress I have been through applying for jobs, even the ones that I could tell from the beginning that they were leading nowhere, I can only be grateful.

It still comes as a shock to me when people come to my mailbox requesting free services. I paid my dues- IN FULL. I am very much available to offer my professional advice (hmmm...it felt good to say that) when it comes to Resumé Building, Cover Letter Writing, and LinkedIn Optimization BUT at a fee (a girl's gotta feed).

I noticed recently, that people have been requesting for Canadian and German Resumés. ICJ CV Services has got you covered as we build ATS- friendly resumés for our clients and offer advice on the job application process after the resumé has been worked on. For those who are not aware, ATS means Applicant Tracking System. This software has thrown many applications out the window because of wrong formatting and the lack of use of "industry keywords".

An applicant tracking system helps companies organize candidates for hiring and recruitment purposes. These systems allow businesses to collect information, organize prospects based on experience and skill set, and filter applicants. So If you are wondering why you have sent out many applications and received no feedback, the reason may just be that your resumé is not ATS-complaint.

I'll be happy to enlighten you on this if you wish. Kindly send a mail to info@icjcvservices.com and I'll definitely get back to you. Please note that my Instagram handle has changed to @icjcvservices and I will appreciate a "follow". Also, connect with me on LinkedIn here.

It's been "serious talk" for a while now. In my next post, I will talk about APPRENTICESHIP and working for an "oga" or "madam". I had my fair share of that experience and I would love to hear your own experiences too (if you have) in the comment section.

Till we meet again....your favorite melanin gurrrrrrl!
