New Adventure? My journey to YouTube!

Hello guys! The last time I wrote to you was October 24th! Whew! It feels like ages. What have I been up to? What have you guys been up to? Did you check on me? Why didn't you? I forgive you. Let's catch up.

I have almost forgotten all the controls of blogger, It feels like I'm starting afresh. I am so excited to write this blog right now; writing helps me cool off so to speak. Taking a long break made me feel like I was missing out on a huge aspect of my life.

So I decided to start YouTube. Are you surprised? I didn't see that coming at all! My first video on youtube was in March 2020, basically reacting to Beverly Naya's documentary: SKIN.

Being dark-skinned, I could relate to the reason many people wanted to be light-skinned. But let's not deviate. That video didn't get many views and I wasn't bothered as I wasn't looking to become a YouTuber. After a while, I deleted the video because I felt it didn't look professional at all.

On the 24th of March, I uploaded another video where I just wanted to rant about Employers mandating their staff to come to work every day during the heat of the pandemic. My husband was still going to work every single day so yah! I was affected🤪.

Then there was this long break.....I didn't film any video until November 2020. I was away for 7 whole months! I'll tell you what was going on during those 7 months.

I started spending more time on youtube, watching videos, learning the " youtube culture", I was basically taking tutorials. I began following renowned YouTube content creators like Austin Betha,  Frankly Speaking with Glory, Nelo Okeke, Toke Makinwa, Adenike Adebayo, Sisi Yemmie, Olufemi Daniel's, Anita Ihesie....etc. These are the ones I can remember.

Then, I would record videos and delete them. It wasn't until I started making videos that I realized that I was camera shy. I wasn't confident. There was always a problem with the videos I recorded. I wanted to be sure that my background/environment was right, my audio was crisp, my lighting perfect, and so on.

I was too conscious of my diction and grammar. I love English Language and I'm quick to spot out grammatical errors. I didn't think I had the right equipment to get started.

Regardless, I started my channel officially Jessy's Corner. I posted rants about my neighbor's dog (click here to watch) and from there I kicked it off. Gradually, I am easing into the "business". For me, YouTube is not just about the money, it's a means for me to express myself and tell my story.

I also want to say a very BIG thank you to Glory Elijah (click here to watch her videos). She held a free masterclass on the A-Z of YouTube; 5 hours of her time is no joke! Please Subscribe to her channel too.

What next? YouTube is here to stay....for the longest time. CV Writing? I'm still here for you! Guys, I still need your support. Please subscribe to my channel, like, watch, and share my videos (click here to view my channel).
