How I Upscaled my Business in 2021

Hi guys! Welcome to my blog. Been a while since I came here to rant to you guys. Really, an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Today, I don't even have time to rant anymore. In this blog post, I will be telling you about what I have been up to, how I have been able to create visibility for my business and increase revenue. You know that I don't joke when it comes to my business. If you are interested in upscaling your business, read to the end of this post. 

Here's a summary of the things I did in 2020 to upscale my business.

• I focused on advertising. Before now, I would pay thousands of Naira to influencers to promote my business. In the end, only two people will contact me from that ad. I decided to own the process of advertising my business. No one else can promote my business like I can. I was in your faces! Everywhere you turned, ICJ Writing Services was there! Many of you can testify. I started making videos (thanks to my youtube videos, I built my confidence in making videos, I'm still learning though!). I ran sponsored ads, I did meme marketing, I was on Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube....you name it! I'm still doing this daily.

• I expanded my team. I had to hire writers to join my team. I trained them, some didn't make it become a part of the team and for those that did, I am happy to have them. I have learned a lot from them and I am sure they have also learned a lot from me.

• I created a website. In 2020, I paid someone to create a website for my business. He created a low-budget website that did not serve the purpose for which it was created. I could not edit the content, I was just stuck with the content the guy had filled in. By October, I found a godsend who created my lovely website.

• I started selling digital products. I created an account on Selar. When I uploaded my first content, I was sceptical. I was not sure that people will buy. Guess what? I'm cashing out now, even in my sleep! Oya run to my store on Selar to view and purchase some of my writing templates!

• I rebranded my business. The name of my business used to be ICJ CV Services but now we are known as ICJ Writing Services. The previous name was limiting. It felt like we only knew how to write CVs and nothing more. Granted, I started out with CV Writing. Today we provide a wide range of services; CVs, Cover Letters, Reference Letters, Statements of Purpose, etc., to mention a few. ICJ Writing Services is home to all sorts of writing services.

• I got my business registered. Yes! You read that right! ICJ Writing Services got registered! If there was anything that hurt me this year, It is the fact that when many clients slid into my DMs, they would first ask, "I hope you will not scam me?" Questions like that dey pain me reach my bones. After my business got registered, I could rest from such questions and statements.

• I constantly showed up on my social media pages. I became very close friends with Canva. I use Canva to design and share eye-catching posts on my social media pages. These posts have helped to glue my audience to my pages. I use the Canva Pro version that gives me access to a whole lot of beautiful designs and the ability to plan my content and share at future dates.

• I set up my payment platforms. I started working with clients from different parts of the world so I needed to set up platforms that will enable me to receive international payments. I will not mention the names of these platforms because this is not a sponsored post....lol.

There are so many things I did in 2021 to grow my business and trust me I saw results! 

• 2021 is the year that I charged my clients confidently without feeling like I was overcharging them.
• 2021 is the year that people stopped seeing me as the Chidimma of yesterday.
• 2021 is the year that I didn't have to beg people to pay for my services.
• 2021 is the year that I became confident to let go of clients that took away my peace. I rejected a lot of jobs without regrets.
