The Marriage Advisors

Yes! I call them "advisors" because they seem to have taken an official position. The Merriam Webster Dictionary says and I quote " Advisor tends to be used for people having an official position—for example, an advisor to the president". But just because I am nice, I'll call them advisers. Let's get to the gist of the day.

You know how parents, aunties, uncles, friends and well-wishers give you advice when you're getting married? I got a trailer load. "take care of your home, cook for your husband, keep your house clean, respect your husband.....yada yada yada..... and I really appreciated them. I can still remember most of them in their exact words...even their faces. I felt their love in my bones......until.....

I CAME TO IBADAN. Every Hanty and Huncle I greet here has marriage advice for me(even the one that got married yesterday or the one that met me 2 hours ago). It started becoming sickening, if I greet you, the next thing is "marriage is not easy, you have to do this and do that...if not....this and that will happen". Ogbeni Kuro! Come and live with me in my house na! Egba mi! See me, I'm already speaking Yoruba 😒😨. I guess what I'm just trying to say is, tone it down.

One person here just dragged me to a corner and legit started giving some gory details of what I have to do to make my marriage work. It's ok to give advice every once in a while but please make sure you are very close to the person before you give unsolicited advice. E calm down, no be me be the first to marry na.

Don't mind me guys, I just really needed to rant. I feel better now.
