Yes! I was excited. I took the job test. I passed! I was invited for an interview. I was a bit nervous because it had been some months since I last had a job interview.
For people who view my Whatsapp status and LinkedIn updates, you know how i always like to be abreast with recruitment processes, CVs, Cover letters, dos and don'ts of Job interview; what to say and what not to say....so ideally I shouldn't be nervous. But I was.
Anyways, I got my documents ready, read up about the company and did some other preparations for the interview. That morning was so clumsy, I was so on edge. I got to the venue by 9am on the dot....or so I thought. I was so nervous that I drove into Access Bank, parked and was about to enter the banking hall until the security man greeted "welcome to Acess Bank". I'm like what? Access Bank? I apologized. The place I was going to was just beside Access Bank. My confusion on that day was on another level. I found my way out and finally got to my destination. I'm sure the Access Bank security man would have concluded that I was a psycho...but who cares? lol.
I got into the building, saw some other candidates. We were ushered into a waiting room; apparently it was their canteen but no wahala, shebi na job we dey find na. After waiting for almost an hour, I was called in for my interview. They did the normal "tell me about yourself"....."what makes you thing you'd be best suited for the job"...I bobo-ed them with my fake queens accent and all.
They promised to get back to me if I was successful. Not bragging but I was almost certain that I had the job. My only fear was the remuneration. I was scared that they would offer to pay me 50k or less. I swallowed my fears and left. I went to visit my friend (mummy Ademide) to gist my heart out. She sells quality Vitafoam Mattresses at Akala Express(Ibadan) and baby stuff too like thermometer, baby teethers, bibs etc. IG: @tabbieslook

Back to the gist. I got a text inviting me for Job briefing, medicals and documentation. I was excited. The D-day came, I dressed up like nwa teacher and carried myself there. You know when you feel you have the job, no need for makeup and heels again....lol. They kept us waiting for over 2 hours, I told myself that I will leave in the next 30 minutes if I was not attended to. In 5 minutes a gentleman walked up to us and ushered us into a training room for the job briefing. I found out that it was a marketing job.
Now this was their offer:
- Gross Salary of N52,500 before confirmation
- Gross Salary of N71,500 after confirmation
- HMO
- A bond to be signed so that if I resigned in less than a year, i'll pay them N200,000.
- A CUG line
- N2,000 airtime allowance monthly
- N3,000 transport allowance monthly
- 6-8 weeks of training with feeding allowance
- Weekend work may be required.
I knew I couldn't take the job. Walking under Ibadan sun with a GROSS PAY of N71,500! No na. Long story short, I did not accept the offer. I picked my bag and envelope(the one that job seekers carry around...lol) and left. I just wasted my fuel and time there sha. No wahala. We move!!!!!
So for now, I still sell undiluted perfume oils, beautiful dresses and shoes. Chat me on 07037982144, IG: @chims_perfumery and @chimsfashionhouse. Also please follow my personal page @chidimmaokorafor.
